Post 4.8 to 6.0 LQ9 swap worth the hassle?

Hello all,
I currently have a 4.8 in my 2000 RCSB. It has the texas speed 216/220 .550 .550 cam, Long tubes, and a yank 3000 stall (truck made 310hp 280tq)
I would like the truck to be a bit quicker and have more low end. I really do not want to mess with forced induction so here is my plan.

get an LQ9
228/230 .600 .600 cam
and the use my existing stall and long tubes.

my question to you all is, will this swap be worth it? or will it not act much different than my current setup? thanks

A night and day difference is what it will make.

Think about the torque. The stock 6.0 already makes more torque that what your current engine is even putting down. Add a camshaft and you will probably be over 100ft/lbs more torque and another 60-80hp at least over the current setup.

That will be like slapping a small blower setup on the 4.8 but for less than half the cost.

I just came from a SC 5.3 to a N/A Lq9/243 head and it’s very very impressive- I wish I did it years ago. Plenty of low end grunt

I just did the swap, 4.8/t56 to a 6.0/t56. It is absolutely worth it, I did a stock rebuild with a mild cam, its damn quick plus my gas mileage hasnt changed much, once the newness of the acceleration is some what gone I suspect i'll get better mileage than before. No more upshifts just to climb a hill with the AC on, it pulls hills so much easier now.

there wont be much hassle, IMO. And its certainly worth it. I am looking at a 6.0 myself for a truck I plan to build for road trips

stock 5.3 to stock 5.7 dropped my et 6/10 in the 1/4. 4.8 to 6.0 is a major upgrade.
