how big can bore iron 6.0
i have read that you can onlt bore a iron 6.0 .010 does anyone know how true that is. i have an 01 6.0 cast #12552216 wanting to make stroker please help thanks
some have gone as far as .060. have your machinist sonic test the cylinders cause no 2 blocks are exactly the same.
mine is bored .030. what do you have plans on doing? what size crank?
wanting to build a super charged 383 but i found the info i posted on engine builder.com and i wanted to be sure before i bought the block
.030 is the max i would go.
You can go a tad more but i would save that for cushion area incase you ever have to re-bore/hone. |
The 6.0L block I just sonic tested is over .300'' thick on the thrust, and .200'' on the rest of the cyl. I would probably go +.100'' for Na, but .030~.040'' for FI. Remember your only removing .050'' of materal on a +.100'' overbore.

does any one know were to find a good priced 383 stroker kit for this 6.0 if all the cylinder wall turn out to be in good shape
cant get a 383 fkit for a 6.0, you can for a 5.7 ls1 block. like i said in my pm you can put a 4 in stroke in a 30 over 6.0 block and have a 408.. theres alot of 408s out there
do you have any suggestions on a crankshaft
I'm boring my 6L .060... But make sure you have enough cylinder wall to do it.
