Help w/246 transfercase.
Hi guys,
I am new here and I am in need of help. I have a '99 GMC w/ 67,000 miles on it and the front drive shaft will not dis-engage. Has anyone had this problem or heard of it, if so how do I fix it? I have the Magna Charger Radix system, 265/75/16 tires, no lift pretty much stock in appearance. My wife was driving it in Auto when this happened. Any clues? Thanks, Will |
Any Ideas this thing is driving me crazy. When I back out or pull into a parking space it feels like it is in 4x4 but the front wheel have no power to them?
Thanks, Will |
there is a servo on the front diff unplug servo start it up drive it shut it off plug servo back in and tell wife not to run in auto

Thank you Whippled HD, I will try that tonight.

did it work?

Didn't work, does your front drive shaft disengage in 2x4? I never paid any attention to mine until I started having these problems. Mine does not spin freely in 2x4 it acts like it is in 4x4.
Thanks again, Will |

Well...that didn't work either. I dont know what this thing is doing, when I make a sharp turn it feels like it is in 4x4 (front-end pushes). When I am driving down the high way I can hear and feel a growl/vibration around 70mph. I dont know for sure if the front drive shaft should be dis-engaged or not when I am in 2x4, I am going to try I find another truck to find out. Any more ideas?
Thank you, Will |
are you still running in auto 4 wheel if so the servo i was talking about stays engaged and your front end is locked just like if you had your hubs loked in on a old straight axle.
