Headers sound in cab and smell
If i buy headers does it sound different in cab like tinny and i read that guys say it smells without cats, what do they mean?
|
You can smell the exhaust fumes without cats is all. It will almost always smell "rich". The sound will be louder in the cab, but the exhaust setup from the y pipe back will dictate whether it drones or not
|
If you get long tubes with no cats plus run the exhaust in the factory location or just keep the stock piping from the muffler back, it will not be bad at all on loudness. The type of muffler also dictates drone as well.
It will smell a little rich at times like Rhino said but nothing to worry about. |

I love the sound, hate the smell. I'll be buying the ARH headers with cats next time around. You might need a resonator or extra muffler to kill the drone. Better yet, buy my entire system!

The smell you hear about is the smell of horsepower. The tree huggers don't want to smell their horsepower that's why they whine about the smell.:popcorn:
As far as the sound of it that is very subjective based on the size of engine and the size of cam in the engine and the exhaust arrangement and muffler used. Most time you have to play with various parts of the exhaust until you nail the sound and noise level you are after. |
