I know several of you have this tire. This is the tire I am planning to get when I get some wheels on my baby. I was just wondering how is traction with tire?

I break them loose up until about 15-20 on a good street. If I stall the verter before hand .. it's all show and no go. I have noticed they will hang a curve a hell of a lot better than the stockers would.

BTW .. mine are 275/60/17

I have the 285/50-20's....
Cornering traction is GREAT, but off the line I can spin them almost as easily as the stock 245/75-16's...the GT II's are a HARD tire (treadwear index of 420) that are designed to provide outstanding wear as well as good performance, if you are looking for a tire that will hook hard off the line this is NOT it

Too true, not great off the line, but got great curve hugging traction. Also until warm, they bounce like a freakin basketball, but then they smooth out after a short while.

So in a nutshell, this tire is an improvement over my stock tires but its still not very good for traction.

lm7 12-11-2003 10:12 AM

yep traction still sucks...but its better than stock....and then again 20s look way better than stock..try some 18s and nitto 555r thats what i want to do once my FLP tranny gets fixed...it took a shit on me last weekend after 2 weeks of untuned daily driving nothing harsh oh well if its not one thing its another

Tokez420 12-11-2003 11:11 AM

what 20 inch tire would u recommend with good wet traction?

benpimpin1 12-11-2003 11:27 AM

I picked the 285/50/20 because it is a bit larger than the 275/45 and glad I did. Its nice having more meat on your rim, makes the rims look bigger too. I would check out the falken stz04 and the new cooper zeon's. They both have an aggressive tread pattern but high milage capability, the falkens have 50k mile warranty. Thats what im putting on my 23's.
