The maggie will work very well with your stock torque converter as well.

A procharger builds boost based soley on engine rpm. The boost is linear, meaning, they start building boost between 3000-3500 rpm(typically), and boost continues to increase with engine rpm, and you achieve maximum boost right before the transmission shifts into the next gear. Then your boost level drops, because your engine rpm just dropped.

Magnachargers and towing work well together, and the used MP112's out there have been going for very low prices.

+1 The maggie is a roots type blower which makes great low end torque, which is what you want to make those 22s start moving and to tow.

IMO I'd look for a roots blower like the Maggie or a twin screw blower like a whipple or Vortech VTS for that low end grunt.

So would I be good to just throw a Maggie and a set of Longtubes on the truck?

Honestly, you wouldn't even need the longtubes.

I was in the low 12's, still running the stock manifolds, stock y-pipe & converters, and stock airbox. If you wanted to maximize your setup for racing, or whatever, you CAN go all out, but you don't need to.

I got the same engine in my truck and I'm not gonna swap it, 4.8 is a really good, and strong engine. Why wast money in buying another engine, while I can spend it in the 4.8? All you need is some bolts-one and good cam, and some good tuning. As far as the torque I would recommend to you the comp cam 212/218 114Lsa. The truck itself is heavy you need to get rid of the 20s and find some good light wheels. If I were you, I would've start with headers, exhaust, air intake, and tune(just take it step by step don't be in rush). After that, tell us what the results are
