Fuel Starving?
 

I built a Super Charged 383 Stroker for my truck and have a fuel issue, maybe, could be something else in the tune.

I had a small cam and heads in the truck and went VERY conservative on that tune initially before installing the 383, the new motor has not been tuned as of yet but the condition I speak of is one I want to deal with now.

At WOT from a dig the truck shuts off at around 4K RPM's and then re-ignites continuing the WOT acceleration .
Is my fuel pump not keeping up with the demand?
Is the pump not picking up fuel in the tank when the gas is pushed to the rear of the tank from accelerating?
It's a stock pump

You are asking to ruin that expensive engine by using a stock pump. I recommend upgrading to a walbro 400 or 450 if you are shooting for 700 and under immediately. Its probably a combination of fuel starvation and not enough pump.

Running it without a tune is a bad idea as well. Remember you changed the displacement correct?

True statement to all the above.
We put an even more conservative tune in it while the engine was being broke in. I got 2100 miles on it waiting to get back to the shop to have it tuned before I put the SC on it. I babied it until 1500 miles and I've hit it maybe 3 times since the initial break in just to see what it would do.
Yes to the bigger pump for sure, before I get the SC installed I will upgrade that. I guess then we will see if it still starves or if the "Conservative" tune before the new engine and after is/was the problem.

So it's not currently supercharged?

No, I took the SC apart to replace bearings and powdercoat it. I'm in the process of re-assembling it as well as installing new gears in the rear end.

Above 1/2 tank it shouldn't be having starvation issues. I haven't seen any problem with mine and I have no functional fuel pump bucket.
