fuel pump making a noise

when i turn my truck in the on position without starting it, you can here the fuel pump turning on. at first is sounds like a gurgling sound coming from fuel filter. is this normal? i might have to change the fuel filter i think. how often do you guys do this? does winter gas make you have to change the filter more often?

also, when the truck is running, does the fuel pump make a quiet whining noise?

I have a problem similar to yours. It just started up yesterday. When the engine is running the pump makes a loud whining noise.

mine gets the lound whine from time to time too. i was worried about it but everyone basically said it was normal and don't fret over it.

not to steal the thread, but it just started after I drove down to the Keys for the weekend. I was following a friend and going pretty damn fast (above 100 for a few brief moments). So it won't just stop working on me will it?

what about the gurgle sound as soon as i turn the key in the on position?

it only lasts a second. is that just gas surging through the fuel lines?
