What size motor, combustion chamber, and head gasket will you be running? Also, what compression ratio do you want to run?

ITS A 6.0 BORED .030 370ci...the cc will be decently high...not sure on head gasket and the compression ratio will be in low 10's

Ok, well say if you get a set of heads with a 72cc chamber a flat top piston will get you ~10.2:1 cr with a stock 6.0L head gasket. The pistons would have to be .010" above the deck for that compression ratio which is usually what diamond specs anyway. :)

If you're going to have a decent size cam in there where p/v clearance may be an issue then go smaller on the combustion chamber and have some valve reliefs put in the pistons.

Patriots new stage III heads will be available with anywhere from a 58cc-75cc chamber with no milling. :eek2:

so since im boring it over .030 i need to go with 4.030 pistons right? also whats the difference between 4.130 and 4.030? or are they the same??

Re: FLAT TOP? OR DISHED PISTONS?

Yeah, you'll need a 4.03" piston. Get the pistons and let whoever is machining the block know the size so they can get the right size bore. I'm not sure if a 4.03" piston actually measures 4.03" or is just a tiny bit smaller so it'll fit in a bore that is 4.03". Talk with whoever you order your pistons from and whoever machines your block about that. :)

4.130" is going to be one tenth of an inch bigger than 4.030". They are not the same at all.

Re: FLAT TOP? OR DISHED PISTONS?

thanks man...i just got one more question, should i get the ones that work with a 6.100 rod, or a 6.125? or does it matter..cause i havent got my rods yet

Re: FLAT TOP? OR DISHED PISTONS?

What rods are you getting? If your getting a 6.125" rod then get the pistons for the 6.125" rod. ;) If you're using stock rods then get the 6.100 pistons. A stock rod is just a TINY bit shorter than 6.100" but, a piston set up for that won't be a problem.

Make sure you get the pistons setup for the stock stroke also.

4.03" bore, 6.125" rod, 3.622" stroke pistons. unless you're using a stock rod. THEN

4.03" bore, 6.100"(6.098stock) rod, 3.622" stroke pistons.

Where are you ordering these from? Whoever it is should be able to make sure you get what you need also. :)
