Electric Fan Conversion
Well I read up on here how easy it is to switch my 02 6L to E-fans
I bought a OEM set up for an 05 on ebay. Bought the Nelson harness. The only easy part is removing the shroud and clutch fan. The HARD part is.. The Nelson set-up is incomplete, there is no plugs on the fan leeds, GM will sell you the plugs for $42. each. The power wires are too short to run to the power point. Had to build a mount for the relays. 30 mins. to remove fan and shroud 4 hours to wire and program Anyone on here that says its easy is blowing smoke up your ass.:engarde: |
I think you got ripped on the fan harness you bought unless you paid 20 bucks for it. It is easy when the parts are complete. For me, everything was bolt up and go...
|
If the harness was complete, it would be a piece of cake...I had to swap my radiator to a 34" and it was still a piece of cake. The Nelson harness that I got was complete with connectors and all, and it installed in minutes. You should give Nelson a call and ask him what the deal is (if you bought the harness new through him). This isn't the first time that I've heard of people having problems with his harness, seems like he needs a better quality control system.

And ur probs are only JUST beginning!

Agreed - It should have came with plugs. Call em up.
Other than the harness being a bit short, and the relays kinda junky - it looked fine to me. It's hard to find a good 40A relay these days. I wouldn't imagine he's making a whole lot on these harnesses anyway to be truthful. Wire has gotten super expensive - especially high temperature wire in larger ga. |
The only hard part of the efan swap for me was pulling off the clutch fan. Even that wasn't too hard. Other than that it was a breeze. I bought my harness off of a member here that makes them and got used LS1 fans off of another member.
No smoke up anyone's ass here. |
I guarantee you he is making money off his harness. Think of how many harness'
s he can make out of a 500' roll of wire...doesnt he charge like $100 a harness? There ya go. |
Should have come with the plugs, give him a call if you bought it from him. The rest is easy.
