EGR valve.....

Can you remove it and not have any problems? I see the H2's with the 6.0, dont have it. Just curious. :burn:

i removed mine but i had a custom program that deleted it. i don't know how it would affect the computer if you just unplugged it.

Re: EGR valve.....

none of the trucks from 02 up have EGR...you can remove the pump that's mounted on the front of the passanger side cylinder head and block off the openings in the header on that side and the hole on the side of the intake manifold and all you will have is an SES light. seems to be a pretty worthwhile modification. i can see where it would be since it injects HOT air into the incoming air into the manifold.

I have a custom tune anyway. Is the SES light something that can be fixed with a custon tune?

Re: EGR valve.....

probably, ls1edit probably hase somewhere in it to turn off the EGR system, similar to turning off the rear 02 sensors.

Re: EGR valve.....

So do the '02s and up have an intake manifold without an egr hole or do they just have a plug in the egr hole?? Any part numbers for the different intake??

Re: EGR valve.....

THe 02's don't have a hole in the intake manifold, and have a reasied spot on the exhaust manifold where it would be. The 03's have neither, but there is a hole in the heat shield over the exhaust manifold for an EGR valve on the exhaust manifold. If the pattern continues, the 04's won't have any signs of an EGR valve.

There are some PID's you need to turn off in EDIT. I don't know them off hand, but if you look around some you can find them.

Re: EGR valve.....

Ok. So I just talked to Lyndon at Westers Garage. He says, if you run an EGR valve you can tune with more ignition timing and run leaner mixtures much safer. Producing more power. So, maybe this is something I dont want to do.

gains are minimal if any.
