Default egr block off plates

even though you would get an ses light this would work w/o any negative side effects right (besides emmisions). just unplug the egr thing, but also get the block off plates from pace parts or somewhere else that sells them so that our 99-01s arent running the egr anymore? would be good for some hp there right? i remember the blockoff plates being like 30bucks, but not sure

I'm not sure that would be worth it IMO. Why not just do the EGR cut off mod ?

you can just unplug your EGR and it is basically the same thing. it gives camaro's 7hp when unplugged,(so like 5hp for us) but beware you will get crappy gas mileage. almost 1.5 to 2 miles per gallon less.

Default EGR Block Off

If anyone is interested I own a 2000 Silverado with a 4.8. The EGR took a dump on me and the truck had bad hesitation problems. I didn't want to spend $130(Autozone) for one so I decided to try blockoff. I used a piece of 1" copper water pipe-cut it, hammered it flat and shaped it, drilled the 2 bolt holes and it worked like a charm. No more hesitation and the big surprise was no check engine light. Going to seal it with high temp rtv today. got about 50 miles on it so far but its all good in the hood(and under it) so far. Happy wrenching. Vick
