DIY Catch Can Install

After much research, I decided that my LQ9 could benefit from a catch can and that I could make an effective one while saving a few bucks. A lot of credit to guys on LS1tech and Morphs on the Grrrr8 forum. I purchased an Ebay 'catch can' and modified it with parts from my local Lowes store. All said and done, I have right around $50 bucks invested in this set up including the purchase of the catch can.

Here's the Ebay can I purchased:https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...0aca77352b.jpg

Not much to see on the inside:

I then made a template out of cardboard to get the dimensions:

And then turned that into the buffer/baffle using .025" steel:

Added an inlet tube using copper pipe attached to the inlet port:

Used the ole trusty JB weld to install and seal buffer/baffle in the can:

And added stainless steel scrubber material in the outlet side to promote condensation of oil vapor:

I attached my catch can with some spare brackets, nuts and bolts I had laying around to the alternator bracket and ran my 3/8" PVC hose.

Looks good. My next mod will be a huge glass catch can. Because I am forgetful and I want to see the oil in it. Not sure where I will find one. BUT I will.

Nice write up. How did you plumb it? I have seen several different ways so just curious.....

Well done! The catch can is the next modification on my list.

Back of driver side valve cover to inlet of catch can, outlet of catch can to the port on the top of stock 03 NBS intake manifold.

Exactly what he said. No other right way. Lots of other wrong ways.
