deck surface questions before swapping heads

2 Attachment(s)
Havn't posted on here for the longest time. I am currently swapping out my heads for 243's. Had overheating issues, resulting in a head gasket leak. My question is after cleaning up the deck surface, there seems to be corrosion or heat marks on the deck surface. Especially by the water jackets. It doesnt seem like much, but i dont like the looks of it. I have two pictures that came out ok, showing what i'm talking about. Is the deck surface ok?

It seems to be more like pitting than corrosion. My concern would be that you over heated it and may have warp the deck. Me personally I would have the decked cleaned up but I'm very picky. I say that because nothing would suck more then to put it all back together and get a leak.

Yea, I'm picky myself. I am starting to think i should just yank the motor, and start fresh.

Could just surface the heads. I had mine surfaced before putting the engine together because it makes for a much better seal and is really good for boosted stuff. Only took off .003 and it seals great. Engine has seen 18psi and no lifting/leaks.

I have brand new 243's that have been surfaced .030. So i know those are flat. I guess i just need some more opinions before i make my move.

Should be fine but you can use a gasket Glue if your concerned. We used a product called Indian Head when we were concerned about sealing area's like that.
