Default Cylinder Head Choices

Hey guys, I’m looking for some recommendations for a cylinder head shop to port my 243’s. I’m looking at TEA Stage 1 for $1350 or so. Which seems like a great deal since they come with .650 springs and retainers also. I won’t pull the trigger until just after the new year for my build. I’d like to stick with stock valves and intake ports in the 22x range. Build is a LS1/6 freshened up. Cam selection is probably Tick Performance TorqueMAX stage 2 for the LS1/6 which is a 227/235 .618/.605 LSA 110+3. 1996 c1500 swapped just looking for a good street build with a solid torque curve.

TEA or Advanced induction are great choices for 243 programs.

Or sell your 243 for 400 and get some as cast 220 heads.

How much lift can you put to those flat tops?

what makes the as cast a good option? are they able to have better porting potential than what my stock 243’s could be ported to with stock casting? not bad for the price but the TEA’s still flow a little better, which again, i understand it isn’t the only thing to look at.

As cast is a great bang for buck. Port work on them would lose the bang for buck. Maybe some light hand work. The aftermarket cast is stronger with less valve angle for less shrouding with a larger valve.

Talk to tea and ask their opinion on ported 243 vs as cast. Let them know you already have a core 243. They will shoot you straight.

Tea used to own trick flow, or still have some kind of affiliation....i cant remember the relationship off the top of my head.
