Default Critique this setup

2007.5 ccsb sierra slt 5.3 4L60 4wd 4.10 gears on 305/55-20 trail graps. Already has a banks ram air intake.

I'm looking for better towing performance hauling around 6000# worth of trailer and off road toys. I work overseas so it's not really a daily driver. More a grocery go getter and long haul weekend warrior. I know it's not the best for towing but want a noticeable lope to the idle. The truck is in beautiful shape to be almost 10 years old and 98,000 miles. Don't want to get too crazy with the mods (blower) as I could just drop that coin on a diesel.

Here's my list so far:
Tru-cool 40k
Corvette servo
Long tubes/catless Y
BTR stage 3 cam or Vinci trucker
BTR .560 beehive springs
Moly pushrods
TSP dod delete with LS7 lifters
Circle D 2600-2800 stall
BBP tune

Any and all recommendations welcome. Thanks guys!

Looked up both cams and it seems the Vinci Trucker cam is more of a torquier cam. I am running the comp 216/220 cam with .525 intake .532 exhaust lift and I love the torque. Very noticable difference from stock. The longtubes will pick you up some low end toque also and will work well with the Vinci cam. You already have 4.10's so theres not a whole awful lot more for towing that you can do without a turbo or supercharger that I know of. If you are not happy with your towing power after the upgrades it might be time for a Duramax. For insurance I might recomend stronger valve springs with either cam. I know you can pick up the blue vette springs good to .570 lift for $60 from summit but comp has some pretty afforadble ones for around $150 that will garentee you no issues. The seat pressure of the vette springs is pretty low. Best of luck. Either cam will have a nice lope.

Would have gone with 4.56 gears since you went to a tire just over 33" tall.

Also a few other cams are better with torque down low for towing.

If you want it to chop at idle it can be done in the tune and pick a cam to meet your needs versus how it sounds.

All that sounds good, but go with the stage 2 or a custom grind

Yeah, I'm still all over the place on the cam. Reading other forums on guy mentioned a 216/222 111 lsa as having a good thump and a heck of a low end torque curve. Roger Vinci recommended the butt kicker 210/218 114 for the listed mods but I haven't seen many using that one or much info on it. I like that TSP actually has dyno charts for their cams.

So I contacted Comp and this was the cam the fella spec'd with my setup:

220/224 .530-.534 on a 112 lsa

Also said I would need an 1800-2000 stall. Does that seem like enough? I was planning on at least 26-2800.

The stall is up to you. When I had my 5.3 I had a 219/227 cam and a CircleD 3200. It would roast the tires for days.

Their recommended stall is basically a stock stall.

What I was thinking. I looked up the cam and it says it's a street/strip cam for high rpm power and likes high ratio rockers. Seems awfully low lift to me. I'm not sure that cam is what I'm looking for.

What are you looking for in the cam?
