Default cold start knocking

I am a new user. I really like all the info.
I am sure someone else has asked this question:
I have a '00 SCSB 5.3l, ever sence I can remember, on a cold start it has made a knocking sound. Like the valves are knocking. I was told that these particular pickups just do that... any input...

Its pretty common on these trucks. My 01 and 02 do it but after they worm up but its not a knocking sound. Its rather a slight ticking sound. You might want to check this out.

Thanks Shark..
I went to the web site and herd thier version of what it sounds like. It sounds like a diesel! Mine is quits within about 3sec. and is not near that loud... I went to the dealer ship and they told me there was nothing they could do..
