Hi Guys,

I just bought a Vinci trucker, and I had originally hoped to run the LS6 springs, but I was told the ramp rates on this cam are too extreme for that spring. I was leaning toward either the PAC-1518's or the Patriot extreme's. I know the patriots might be over the top as far as spring rates, but I heard they are way more durable and have a much longer life than the dual gold kit. I want something that I will not have to swap out again after a year or 2. Also, what are the downsides to running a stiffer spring like the Patriots?
Another upside to the patriots is that they come with the titanium retainers, where as I would have to buy them seperate, if at all, with the PAC's.

If if were you, which spring would you go with and why? If you choose the PAC's would you also buy the Ti retainers? I will only be spinnin the motor up to 6200 or so, so I didn't think it was necessary.

The yellow ls6 springs are plenty for that cam

Pac1218s are some good springs and should be pletny enough

I have heard the 1518's are much more durable than the 1218's and have a much longer life. If I go with PAC's I think thats probably the route I would take.

What about the Ti retainers? Is that a godo investment? At what point do they start to become worth while?

I know that patriots are good springs, I just dont know about their longevity.

I like patriot duals. I messed up when I installed my springs and broke 10 of the 16 inner springs! Thankfully I still had the outer springs holding the valves!!

Thats good to know. I do like the added insurance of having a dual spring, but I have heard that the 1518's are almost bulletproof. I want something that is going to be basically as reliable as stock.

I am running the regular patriot duals and they seem fine. I have the same cam. Had them on for over a year now.

The PAC 1518 would be fine. However, by the time you get Ti retainers, you could have bought a set of dual springs w/ Ti retainers cheaper. If you go with a dual spring, I would recommend the PRC dual springkit. The retainers are made here in the states and are more consistent on tolerances so you don't run into install height issues. Also, good thing about a dual is if you have one break, you have another spring to hold the valve up. It might float the valve and hit a piston but at least it won't drop it into the cylinder and kill the motor...

i had the vinci trucker with the yellow ls6 springs...ran it for 2yrs no problems
