ya i know its a ton...38 dollar gasket and probly take him 1 hour tops. But im 19 years old, its worth it for me just to pay it i guess. They actually had it in the books at almost 400, and i gave them a hard time, because i know how long it takes, so then they came back and said it would cost me 112 to diagnose it, or 272 just to change it, (including knock sensors) So i just had them do it.

I guess my boss should raise his prices, we only charge $69.95 Diagnostic fee and apply that towards any work you decide to have done on the same visit.
FWIW Our labor rate is only $75 an hour and some of the local dealers are between $105-$120

Not Bad. At least you were able to get them down a little bit on price. And hopefully they actually changed the knock sensors. So if the intake gaskets are around $38 and the knock sensors are around $42 each.... Believe me there not getting much off at those prices as far as profit goes. Thats $122 for parts and RTV for the sensors, assuming they did it right... Thats only $150 Labor, which at our shops labor rate is only 2 hours of labor... I wouldn't feel bad about that... And hey at least its done and over with...
