Default Catback vs Muffler change only

I have a pretty much stock 2000 4.8 EC, just a K&N intake. I've decided on a Magnaflow muffler, is getting the whole catback kit really worth it on a stock motor ? The only other mod I plan on doing is a Nelson tune (or maybe someone else), and maybe some 05' fans when the come out.

If you were going FI then I'd say yeah, then you could use the 3" inlet pipe supplied with a system, but if no blower or turbo, you're fine with just the muffler. Go for it.

Thanks for the advice Naked AV.. Just got the muffler installed this morning. Feels great, pretty quiet at idle and cruise, but you can hear it when you punch it. Saved me some money for the tune.

probably going to go with Nelson, seems to get the most praise on this forum. Since I'm almost stock, I think the mail order tune will do just fine. Going for the dual octane tune, just is case the gas prices rocket up again, here in Cali.

That's probably the way to go, he'll likely nail your tune on the first or second go-round since you're stock. Let us know what happens...
