Cam vs Procharger Costs
My Nephew wants to install a mild cam into his 2016 Sierra. His words are "A little bit better cam".
All said and done comparing a cam change and all required along with it, to bolting on a Procharger would the cost be? Which would be more? Thanks |

Cheapest Procharger setup for a 2016 5.3 looks to be $7350
Cam/DOD delete and such usually goes for about $2000 Add labor and tuning to both varies. |
Thanks, I have not looked at the market in a while.

I went with a Procharger ( and a cam also) on my 2000 suburban when i swapped in a LQ4. The kit back then ( 2020) was around $5500 for a upgraded D1SC. Plus i did injectors ,fuel pump and gauges. I installed it my self in less than a day. So labor you can avoid for it. But the upside is you get allot more out of it than just doing cam only. My tuner here will dyno tune me for around $300, Check with Bob at Brutespeed he gets the best pricing i have found on PC kits, pus he is a wealth of knowledge.

i have a D1SC system that i am putting up for sale soon since i just upgraded to an F1A if your interested. i was maxing out the D1SC and converting to a 416 stroker.

you won't need to upgrade the fuel system if you stay 7-8 lbs or under so a 4.25 pulley or larger. and unless you put in a forged bottom end you won't want to go above that amount of boost. i was getting 6-7 lbs with my setup living at 8000ft above sea level and had 550 rwhp. i loved it! i have been putting together a budget for a while to do a rebuild and that's why i'm selling it, not enough boost lol

Thanks, Trying to get him to look at a Maggie. How are the canned tunes doing on them these days? Is there tune dial in support after the sale with scan logs and such?
I was the first to put a maggie on the L33 other than Magnuson's shop truck, they kept in close contact with me, they wound up dropping a pulley size for me. It wasn't until a week or so after we finished I noticed an audible knock when gently accelerating from a 40mph cruise. That got dialed in. The 9.9:1 compression was giving them a fit. Been running 8PSI for 140k miles now. She loves it. The 8 & 10 speed new stocker trucks are giving me a fit when they pick on me but I still hold them. |
as far as i know its just a regular ole canned tune. Lots of improvements can be had with a proper tune.
