I put the converter in with the FLT. My stock transmission was slipping badly in 2nd gear at about 95k miles. I think it's a crap shoot on the tranny. You can swap in a bigger cam without a stall and still run fine. You probably won't pick up much speed at the track, depending on the size of the cam until you get a stall. Just start saving some money so you will be ready for a new trans when its needed...

is the vinci cam "the trucker" DUR @ .004" 278*/ 286* DUR @ .050" 216*/ 224* LIFT.551/.551 OVERLAP 53* LSA 115* concidered a "big cam". i have a 5.3L and im going for a agressive, choppy idle cam rpm range from around 2-6k. would this be a good choice or what would you suggest

I think that cam is on the upper end for a 5.3L and it sounds like a decent cam. You could probaly go a little bigger if you want and from what I understand something on a tighter LSA should have more lope to it. Tuning will play a factor in that also. Maybe someone with more cam knowledge will chime in here.

No, you have the right idea. That's an exhaust happy cam, make sure you have headers and a good catback as backpressure is not your friend. A 224/224 would be better for the power range you want.

A 114 LSA would have a little bit more lope, but a 112 is probably what you'd ultimately want.

Do not forget about tuning.

I believe it will. I think ChevyThunder17 was saying that the 114 lsa will have more lope than the 115 of the trucker cam, but a 112 will have even more. Which is probably what Jeff wants.

either a 220/220 or a 224/224

the TSP 224R looks nice, same specs as a TR224 but a bit more lift
