Cam and headers is swaying me to do heads as well

Truck is a just a weekend toy/material hauler RCSB 4wd. I am just looking to add some pep to the truck, it is a heavy brick so there is no reason to go all out and loose driveability for my intentions.

I do not want to change the converter and get into the rear end, currently 3.42's with g-bomb.

I will not put a real tire on it ever since I would like to keep the trans going as long as possible. I went through 4 or 5, 4L60's on my camaro but it was to be expected based on the 60' and DD beatings it took.

Currently have a 212/218 low lift and a set of LT's waiting to go on. I have 706 heads and if I am going to dig into the engine might as well change them since they are prone to the cracking coolant leak.

I plan to pull the valve covers and verify they are castech first. If they are castech I will swap them out.

Doing heads in a positive light will also save time doing the valve spring swap and if a header bolt/stud shears off and there is some HP gain going to 243/799 heads.

Figure heads will net about 15-20 HP at the cost of gaskets, bolts and milling the heads, but then I have no worries about the 706 castings.

Besides the items I listed above anyone care to add some input on what they would do as well. Going to hold off on a NNBS intake at the moment due to cost. Probably will change waterpump as well, truck is has 78K.

The heads will add the most power up top. Without wanting to go with a converter I have a hard time saying I think it will be such a great mod.

Before the blower I had exactly the same setup: rcsb 4x4 w same cam, same gears and headers. This combo will get you excellent power/torque for a DD and you won't loose anything downlow. I'd do the heads for sure to help on top end power.

That said for me going from 3.42 to 4.10 gears was more noticeable than the mods mntioned.

Once the G80 takes itself out I will likely upgrade to 3:73, trying to keep it still useable in terms of road manners and mpg.

I know throwing on some form of power adder (supercharger or turbo) would be the best route for driveability the upfront cost is a kick in the dick.
