Cam and head swap Q?

ok here is what i have, its an 07 silverado (not classic) w/ a 5.3, fabtech 6in with a 3in body and 37in mudgrapplers and 4.56's and i am doing a cam/ head swap and need to know what kind of set ups people are running on these things to get lots of low end power. i dont really have a budget i just want to get some of the best parts. i have never messed with a 5.3 but i know alot about the platform, i built an ls6 stroker for my trans am that made great power but i just dont know what to do with this truck. i want to run the stock converter too but my tranny is built up pretty good. also need a good set of headers if yall know of any for this. i had patrick g off of tech do a custom grind for my car and was wondering if any of yall had heard about him or not?
Thanks for any input!

All I have to say is that Pat G know what he's talking about!

yes he does! he specked me one for my car and i absolutely love it. im going to go ahead and do a stall and intake too if anybody has some good suggestions!

Most likely you have either the 243 or 799 heads right? And you prob also have the flat top pistons. Well the key to torque is compression and since you have some of the best flowing factory heads out there i'd just mill them about .030, clean the ports up a bit and put them back on and call up Patrick G and have him spec you a cam. Or if money's not a prob then get a set of AFR 205's with 59 to 61cc chambers and smack them on there.

If you do have 243/799 heads or plan on upgrading, then I agree with the others about getting a custom spec'd cam. A 3200(26-2800 if you tow) stall would probably work good in your truck too.

awsome... i was definatley considering afr 205's and a patrick g cam but what about an intake and headers?! also who makes a strong converter for a 4X4?

I'd go with a Yank or Circle D converter... Also, check out AFR's website... They don't have the 205's in the smaller combustion chambers but they do have some others... As for headers, Pacesetter Quick Trip long tubes with the off road Y-pipe is prob your best bet.

Trickflow 205s, or afr 205s with a small cammayo had good luck with theLs2 cheatr cam. I had Patrick g spec out a cam for my truck amd it slowed down .2 in the quartermile so I'm not so sure idhave him spec me out another one lol. Yank makes anice converterif your in low range (which u should be if ur wheelin). The higher stall dosntveffect you nearly as much! I wheeled with a yankss3600 with plenty of control
