If you can find A VMAX or Denali truck catback factory one they flow pretty damm good and sound even better behind long tubes with no cats. I did that on my cammed 06 Vmax short crew I tried so many different things and that really shut it up and it had a great tone.

also, and im not quoting. but under 6,000 lbs its basically no exceptions. over 6,000 its a 91 dB limit and they have rules of how to measure it.

It's a BS law for sure. My 392 charger with factory exhaust violates the law when they perform the test. Glad I don't live there.

You seemed to be confused by the Law.

For example a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado has a GVWR of 6,100 to 7,000 lbs depending on how its configured

Under existing law, exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles with a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, may not exceed a sound level of 95-decibels when tested under Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test procedure J1169 (May 1998). This was not changed by A.B. 1824.

Existing law requires every motor vehicle subject to registration to be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise and prohibits a muffler or exhaust system from being equipped with a cutout, bypass, or similar device. Existing law further prohibits the modification of an exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner that will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle exceeds existing noise limits.

Ok, Point i was getting to was. isn't over 6,000 lbs follow a different guideline for the new exhaust law?
I've asked buddies in local police department, Sheriff and Highway patrol and even random law enforcement officers I've just came across and they all basically said, "they don't care, except the import guys they are the worst"

And, i was still curious what Chevyss909 ended up doing anyways.
