BTR NSR thoughts? Reviews?
Hello all. First of all I picked up a 2005 Saab 9-7x with a rod knock that I'm throwing a gen 3 5.3 I have sitting here in. I'm basically just putting it together for a spare work vehicle and to eventually tow a small car hauler for the wife's goat. I want to throw a cam in it before I put it back in but am kind of torn. I have the TSP 220r in my silverado and TSP 228r in the wife's GTO and am happy with both. But not sure I want to go that aggressive as both really need a good stall as well as aftermarket springs. I have a set of LS2 springs sitting here so I'd like to use them. Also I'd like to spend as little as possible as we are hemorrhaging money into the other 2 projects. What is everyone's thoughts on the BTR 224/230 112 .500/.500 cam? It sounds great, seems to make power according to graphs I've seen. And Best of all its $300. I know there are much better choices that would make more power but this seems to be getting good reviews. Main worry is... will it still make power down low with a TB I6 stall? I'll prob only be doing a intake of some sort... long tubes TB stall cam and tune on this thing.
TSP has a few low lift cams but end up being almost $150 more by the time I calculate shipping. Just trying to get some real world results before I pull the trigger. Any input would be much appreciated

anything else you'd suggest? I might just spend the extra coin and get one of TSP low lift truck cams. I have 2 sets of Ls2 springs sitting here I'd like to use or I never will. Also I am going to throw a TB I6 stall in so it should stall a little more than stock.

Launching!
I would rec. doing TSP line of low lift truck cams or BTR truck cams and go max stage 2 on both. It will use stock LS2 springs on both and keep the powerband low for towing. I run a stage 3 BTR cam in my truck, Ext Cab 2wd, and tow about once or twice a year and the cam has greta mid range power and torque and better top end, if it wasnt for my stall i wouldnt even try towing. On the dyno sheet, it shows i gained 5 rwtq 2500 and up, not bottom end loss (didnt dyno it lower) but tows alright, but i only get like 8 MPGS

I run the btr nsr cam ground by cam dynamics in my 01 EC z71 4x4 (I/H/E, stall, vette servo and rod, slightly cleaned up heads, ls6 valve springs, 3:73s etc etc..) I haven't had it tuned just yet since the stall, but I can tell ya the 2k I put on it before the stall it's a dog down low cam seems to come on at 3k and up. I still use my truck so I went with a 3000-3200 stall but if it wasn't a beat up farm truck I would have went with a 3600-4000 stall. I haven't tried any of the other low lift truck cams so I can't comment on those.

Thanks for all the replies. May end up going with one of TSP truck cams. Going to keep my eyes peeled for any used deals.
Although I have been toying with the idea of buying a elgin 1838p cam. Sloppy mechanics seems to have good luck with their cams. Specs are 216/220 .560 .560 114 lsa . So pretty close to a stage 3 truck cam. Prob on the larger end of what I wanted to go with but for $240 I might try it out. Worst case I could pull it out later and keep it for another project.
