I talked him down to the stg 3 ls1/ls2 cam. Still far to big for a 3.23 gear, 30" tire truck. Hes mostly after dyno numbers, but after dynoing it he seemed disappointed, it only made 280hp and 270tq. Although the truck is 100% stock other than cam springs and push rods, (cats intake, muffler and all!) And only on 87 Oct gas. The dyno operator said he has had a couple bone stock 4.8's make 220, so 60hp from a cam without supporting mods I thought was decent nonetheless. I think the stock 200k mile cats are holding most of the power back.
Headers and the rest of the exhaust go in in a week or so then back to the dyno.

There’s still about 15hp left in it if he went to 93 octane.

I just purchased a 2005 silverado single cab short bed truck with a 4.8L that will be my drag truck I have most of what I need to finish the build but I wanna make sure my cam is not gonna be to big it is the BTR stage 4 LS3 cam with double springs, titanium retainers and keepers ,hardened push rods, trunion upgrade the engine will be controlled with the holley terminator x ecu with a th400 Trans and 3200 nitrous stall, 4.56 gears and strange axles I wanna spray a 300 shot on it but I'm not sure how the truck intake distribution is with the plate so I may only spray 200 till I get a new intake

What pistons? Stock 4.8 flat tops will need fly cutting with that camshaft and will probably pop a ring land with anything over 150 shot. I'd start a new build thread in the "projects gallery" to get more eyes on your build.
