Best way to increase MPG on 6.0

Hey guys,

Here is my situation. For work we have 6 2500HD ECLB 2wd with the 6.0. Three are 2002 and 3 are new 2004. All of these trucks have a load in them at ALL times of minimum 1500lbs and maximum of 3000lbs. Each truck averages about 50,000 miles a year. One of the 02s has 185,000 on it.

My question is what would be the best way to up the MPG. Now we are in the medical business so no loud exhausts please. I was thinking about the Vararam insert but can not find real world test data on these.

Let me hear it. Thanks guys.

Ken

I can't give any real specific increases for each of my mods. I went from stock, doing 16mpg everywhere..... to a high of 22.Xmpg with plug wires, e-fans, tuning (by me, through HPTuners), a drop in filter, and the B&B exhaust.

I know the exhaust helped, but it wasn't all that much. I remember getting well into the 17's after plug wires. I did e-fans and tuning at the same time, and picked up at least 2mpg - I don't know which contributed more.

I dropped mileage after the cam. It's not really an 'economy' cam, and I can't keep my foot out of it. On a highway trip last week, I averaged 19.8 in both directions.

Get a custom tune specifically for mileage reasons.

BTW, I picked up 3MPG with a performance tune. :)
