I assume a converter will soften that hit, but I've been toying around the idea with going with some bigger cam specs... I really do miss a lumpy idle... I just have a little cackle right now. |
No, not a big mouth. Just alot of useful info, You are the cam guru :hail:
The stock cam was a neck jerker for sure, Now it is alittle easier on driving and my girlfreinds neck. When you get on it, it hauls, I think your 220 would have really liked the headers. ILL, The only reason I went with the 216/220 was I don't want to change the stall. I kicked this idea around for like a month before I made a move, I picked Allens brain for the longest time. He said that a 6L needs more cam, I was almost set on a 212/218. |

The problem I'm having right now with the truck as far as power goes is on the top end, not the low end. I've never been one to believe in getting a small cam like a 208/212/218 etc etc.... I like the big cams
I think the main idea with cams is more or less picking the duration based off of the powerband you're looking for in your particular motor and chassis. Tall gears, taller tires, heavy weights - they'll all typically prefer smaller durations. Light vehicles, deep gears - you know, bigger cams. I know what you mean about top-end power. I get nasty amounts of power out of my little stick at 25% and 50% throttle way down at 2,000rpm -- power that would have required a 75% throttle and a downshift with the other cam... but my top-end isn't all that enthusiastic. It's not really what the cam was designed for. I'm looking into other mods to help out the top end on things - intake and exhaust setups. Man, I can't wait for the track to open in April. |
