I like my 224/.563/112 in the LS1...it is sllightly down on power until about 2k, but I don't think it's enough to worry about. Do you plan on getting a converter later down the road? If so, it's definitely something you could live with until you can get the converter later down the road.

SierraCrew, I don't know about this cam for a 5.3,it might be too much. I think 02 Denali had my cam before the one he is on now. You might be alright with your stall thought. I think he was using 1.8 rockers also.
I knew Marc was going to chime in on this one, He helped me make my decision. He has been there done that. and are trucks are real close to each other.
ILL, you might be better with what I am using, I don't think you will need a stall with my setup

i had the 216/220 cam with 1.85 rockers and it ran well. with the just the cam a stall at around 2600 would be perfect. once i put on the rockers i noticed the power band moved up a little. but i did like that cam and it was very streetable. i ran 14.29 with that cam and my mods. now i really like my new cam. but it doesnt even wake up till about 3000 rpm's.

I'm with Scream about the 224/224. I love the cam, but it does seem to be down on the power below 1600rpms. It absolutely screams from 1700-6500. It is a very streetable cam, and really makes the truck fun on everyday drives. I would definately recommend a stall of at least 3000. I'm considering going up to a higher stall in the far away future. My tune is damn close right now. It idles at 700-800rpms, and has a considerably noticeable lope at idle.

Just to let you guys know, reason I'm asking is because I'm found a good deal on the cam, springs, and retainers for about half off of what it'd normally cost. I do plan on getting a stall, but not till later on down the road, so I was just wondering how that cam would do for maybe 6-7 months with a retune and no stall.

I would go for it if the price is right. You can live without the stall for a couple of months, you just have to get it retuned.

You're truck is mainly street driven, correct? Ever been to the track..plan to? If not, I would back out. A small converter and a short duration'd camshaft will suite your needs better.

Lower rpm power is where it's at for 5000lbs.

Yes its mainly street driven, I have been to a track and do plan on going every now and then. Once I get a stall it can help me keep the lowend and maybe I could get the cam advanced if needed to, to make the power where i want it. The problem I'm having right now with the truck as far as power goes is on the top end, not the low end. I've never been one to believe in getting a small cam like a 208/212/218 etc etc.... I like the big cams
