Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator/Clean EGR?
On my 99 5.3L Silverado, when I go to start it when its warm 50% of the time it will fire right up, but the other 50% it will cycle a couple of times. But when its cold it starts like it is suppose to. I just replaced my fuel pump about 4 months ago and didn't know if it could be becasue of a bad install or would it deal with the Fuel Pressure Regulator. How do you test this? Also are you suppose to clean the EGR valve? Mine has 155k miles on it and probably has never been cleaned. How do you clean this? My truck isn't getting the MPG I feel it could about 14, but I have just done the fuel pump, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, etc. Thanks

you will get terrible gas mileage if the diaphragm is bad on the regulator. try this, start your truck, then unplug the hose that is going into the regulator. if gas starts to come out, the regulator needs to be replaced.
for the egr valve, remove it and try spraying a little crc sensor spray. and change the gasket.
