Default backpressure

will i loose too much backpressure on my baby 4.8 if i run pacesetter headers and stock cats and get rid of my collector and have them run 2 pipes all the way to a 2 in 2 out magnaflow and have it brought out in front of the back right tire?

You'll still have backpressure since you'll have the cats and a muffler in there so I wouldn't worry about that...but what do you mean "get rid of the collector"?

Backpressure is evil. Get rid of all of it.

Think he means the Y-pipe.

But to answer your question, you will be just fine.

correct me if i'm wrong, but ain't some semblance of back pressure what keeps your low-end torque intact? (not that a 4.8 has any, but i'm referring to my 5.3 - i'm currently dumped but thinking of adding tail pipes)

Zebra have you considered a E-cut out? Im looking at one for my 5.3 when i get my exhaust work done finaly. Seems like a great idea to me so you can still keep your loud exhaust when you want it and a more mellow tone when your just not feelin the loudness.

I had the same setup on my 4.8 with a flowmaster. I did notice a drop in torque but nothing i couldnt make up for in the higher rpms. Especially since I have a 5spd.

Im gonna agree with this guy, but that doesnt mean go and bolt on full diesel exhaust. Theres a fine line between free flowing and just too big imo..

i don't mind it being loud - i actually prefer it, but i don't like the way it sounds. with the 4.3, it was fine, but with the more even flow of the extra 2 cylinders, it's sounding a bit too 'breathy' and also with it moving more air, it's rattling the bed a bit more. another thing is that the LS motors make their power at higher RPMs than the SBCs did, so i'm wanting to get a bit more low end back (seein's how i never see 3000rpm unless i'm really gunnin it). overall, by adding tailpipes, i'm hoping to get a little more bottom-end and define the exhaust note a little more.

standard shift FOR THE WIN!!!
i will say, though... there ain't nothin like a free-flowing exhaust on a downshift as you engine-brake!
