ARP Rod Bolt Torque Specs...
#1
Well, picked up the 6.0l from the shop that did my head work and was telling the guy I'll be installing some ARP rod bolts before I drop it in. The owner said that I'll most likely need to install them using a stretch guage.
Is this true or can I simply torque them to spec?
Thanks!

the ARP bolts i got for my motor had instructions with them and the instructions had a torque spec. i can't remember what it was but it was pretty close to the stock bolt specs. what did you have done to the block at the machine shop?

Thanks for the replies! Buying stuff slightly used has it's setbacks sometimes.
Slow, I haven't done anything to the block, but I did get a rather pretty port and polish of the 6.0l heads and some nice powder coating done on the valve covers. As for the rod bolts, I'm just adding a little more insurance to the motor while she's still out, plus I'm a sucker for a good deal.

Hmm, finally getting into the bottom end and reading the helms manuals and it states 15 lb ft and 60 degrees for 1st design and 15 lb ft and 75 degrees for second design. Here's another kicker, I have 4 different designs (0, 1, 2, and 3 dimples) and they're not the same type on most of the rods.
So 45 ft lbs 3 times like Flyer suggested with the ARP and consider this resolved?

Those other torque specs are what you should use with the factory stretch bolts. The ARP's aren't designed to stretch like the factory bolts.
I would stick with the ARP suggestions.
