another 4.8 needing more power!!!

I just picked up a 2004 silverado ext cab with a 4.8 auto.
What are some mods I can do to get a little more power
Like what cai should I get, best bang for the buck headers, and parts of other ls motors I can swap

I have a ls1 Trans am so I know ls just didn't know what I should do for the truck

Gears really help. I run a K&N, but ran trueflow in the past, no real difference. Pacesetter longtubes and offroad y pipe give a nice gain, custom tuning is where its at though. You can gain some nice power and have it shift way better with a tune.Of course you can always throw in a cam or stall as well.

Yeah I did some reading and I see gears help alot .... Also I saw you can change intake manifolds with the newer motors?

Stall first. Definitely best bang for the buck.

Gears would not be my first mod., learn from my mistake with my first truck I heavily modded. High Stall Tq. Converter is where its at. Trust me, that one mod will put a grin from ear to ear. That with a Tune, I'd run the stock airbox with a drop in AFE dryflow or similar Air filter and an AirAid Modular Intake Tube (MIT for short). Do a free flowing exhaust. Gears will help, but the stall is best bang for buck IMO. The Longtube Headers, cam, etc......

A stall is a big improvement even on a stock truck. Most people will say a 3200 for a stock internal stall. Although it really comes down to how much you can deal with IMO. Trucks weigh a lot more than cars so they need to stay in the power and to get moving.

What is a good cheaper brand stall I can get

kelsey_canard 01-31-2013 03:58 PM

Circle d and yank make some good entry level stall converters. I think circle d makes an entry level converter for about 400 or so

gears, and tune , it realy depends on how much are you willing to spend and what are your future plans
