Acceptable hot idle oil pressure
#11
hmmm, so alot of mixed postings...
Next month or so i plan on doing some maintenance to the truck. the motor has about 130k on it.
so i plan on doing a new oil pump, new oil pump oring, new timing chain/gears, and new cam retainer plate. The motor does not use a drop of oil and runs just fine... So a little extra insurance with some new parts.

I personally can't run less than 35# of pressure otherwise I get lifter rattle. Since I have dual springs the force on the lifter is a lot higher and they get squished flat if the oil pressure falls. Stock springs may be ok at 24# but anything aftermarket (stronger) needs more.
My last pump started running at 25psi then slowly fell to 21psi hot. The cause was the oil pickup screen broke and was ingested by the pump.
