90mm vs. 102mm TB?

Would I benefit from a 102mm Tb over a 90mm TB on a FAST intake on a H/C 6.0? Also, does the 102mm TB fit over the standard sized intake tubes or will I need to go custom? Thanks.

When I called and spoke with FAST direct the tech on the phone told me NO to the same question...He said a motor will only gain power with a larger TB if it needs that much air...Unless your building a 400+ ci LSX TT or F1 than 90/92 will flow plenty...He did say however throttle response improved with the larger TB's....
-IIRC you will need a new silicone coupler for the 102mm, but the 90/92 can stretch over...Same O.D. as a 78mm but larger I.D.....:)

Thanks for the reply, think that answers the question perfectly.

The only thing I would be interested in was the increased throttle response. Everyone wants that! Price difference is around $100 between the 90 and 102 I believe (at least for the FAST branded TB).

anytime you are able to force air into the motor you'll gain, its funny how FAST tech support told me i would be better off with a 102 rather a 90/92 ;) go figure!! but then again i run thw lsxr intake ;)

I think its pretty close between the two for power levels, but when I asked myself the same question 92 or 102 a few weeks ago when I bought mine, It came down to look at all the money invested into this new setup, really any extra 100$ for a BADASS tb which not alot of people have, was totally worth it to me, plus the gains will be better.

FYI, what kind on cai are u running?

k cool, not alot of people know that most intakes wont fit direct and you need a coupler...

im sure the 102 with the 102mm intake would do wonders with boost

If you search over on Tech you'll find where Katech tested the 102mm tb against a oe 90mm on a LS7 Zo6. It gained like 2 or 3 horsepower but lost that much in torque. Pat G put one on his 500 horsepower G8 and gained 5 horsepower but took it back off as it was difficult to tune.
