8.1 in a 2000?
Hey guys I have a 2000 Silverado with the 4.8L and I am wondering if the 8.1L is compatible like the 6.0L is? Will the 8.1 fit in my engine compartment? If not, what things would I need to do to make it work? Thanks!!!

Re: 8.1 in a 2000?
Not very easily. The 8.1 is not an LS1 based engine. It will have very few parts that interchange with the 4.8,5.3,and 6.0. Sport truck magazine did and article on a guy that did this a while back, and it was quite extinsive if I remember correctly.

The one in Sport Truck was a 2500 longbed. They cut the bed down and put 1/2 ton running gear on it.

6.0! |
Re: 8.1 in a 2000?
I think he needs bore / stroke the hell out of an 8.1L. See if he can get 10 liters out of it. Top it off with the whipple and nitrous.
But wait, one whipple may not push out enough air for that much displacement, DUAL WHIPPLES! |
Re: 8.1 in a 2000?
oh yea! make it a 2stage nitrous and don't forget the water injection and intercoolers(dual of course) pushing 30psi. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

RE: 8.1l in Sport Truck..... They took a 2500 cab only, and swapped frames/suspension to a 1500. the front of the truck had to be body dropped to give it a normal look.
I think a more important ? is. Can you bolt a 4l60e to a 8.1l???? |
