706 to 243's heads??

What kind of gain's are to be seen by going with the 243 heads over the 706'ers? I've been thinking about getting some new heads but not sure if this idea is worth it or not and havent seen much about the difference's as far as power produced. Any insight is appreciated thanks in advance!

larger chamber will reduce CR and you will lose bottom end.

ooo...dont want that low end is enough of a problem especially since I dont plan on runnin a stall.

if you get them milled and get a better cam would it be better all around?

Im going to be getting a cam sometime this fall most likely something in the 212/218 range on a 112 (custom grind) hopefully. After that it will be time to think about heads for me. Just not sure yet if it is worth it. What would be the best set of heads to run? or is it not worth the money. Im not trying to be the fastest n/a 4x4 either just want a lil more pep in the step if ya know what I mean.

Milling a set of heads only costs $58 bucks in my neck of the woods for both regardless of how much material is taken off. I'd find a set of 243's, mill them down to 58cc's and you're good to go for 9.9-10:1 compression right around there, assuming a stock head gasket. That 212/218 camshaft is a good choice. Well done on that one.

I would also suggest doing the cam and head swap all at once, since you will have the pig apart..

I did 243s milled .040 with my 222 226 cam and didnt notice a loss of low end but the top end is killer!

Thanks for all of your responses, im going to start looking into picking up a set of 243's and get them worked then like John said put'em on when I throw the cam in!
