60Ft. Problems

I have an '02 Gmc Sierra Regular cab 4.8L and it seems like it leaves the line slower than it should i have a hypertech prgmr. dynomax exaust k&n Intake and a .373 rear end my 60' times are like 2.3 seconds with no traction problems. Does anybody else have this problem and what can i do? :bang:

2.3 is pretty normal with the limited mods you have. Some poeple get 2.2s and a few 2.1s with those mods. Try pulling the spair, tailgate, and a few other things to drop weight. Also try stalling it up to @1200rpms to bring it closer to the power band of the line. What times are you running now?

2.0's here
reffer to Pm that I sent you:)
I thought about taken off on you the otherday but decided not. had seen to many DP cops that day:(

Pretty average.

Thge power in these motors doesn't really come on till 3k rpm. Thats why a stall is so well liked around these parts. ;)

I know, there's no substitute for a good stall....

A tt3000 should get those times down to around 2.1 or a high 2.0

Otherwise ... it seems about normal.

What about the freeway

But what kind of RPM's can i expect to run while going down the freeway?

ThunderZ28 03-27-2004 10:45 PM

not much higher than you are now. I run about a 3,000 stall now and if I can keep my foot out of the gas, which I can't. I get about the same gas mileage, and I only run about 2600 rpms at 70mph.

Exact same rpm's. Both the stock stall and tt3000 have a lockup clutch for a 1:1 ratio at cruise.
I honestly can't think of 1 drawback to a 3000 or smaller stall. No loss of drivability, can still tow, same highway gas mileage. Then step on it and it'll smoke the tires into second gear.

How much and where
