Default 6.0 swap question

I have been doing alot of reading and researching. Seems so many people input on a subject they aren't very sure about and it confuses and ruins so many threads, And leaves me with doubt still.

The question I have is If I plan to swap from a 4.8 or 5.3 to a 6.0. What is needed? just the shortblock (lq4) 6.0 and Literally everything else can swap?? all accessories, harness, intake, heads ( I have read much about how the 4.8l-5.3l heads raise compression on the lq4) but none the less the heads would work right?? I have also read about the long crank 6.0, As long as I get a 6.0 from 2001-up I shouldn't have to worry about that situation right? I plan to beef up the 4l60e and keep using it. Thanks guys.

I know this is been asked 10,000 times and believe me I have been reading til I cant stand it. Hopefully people who know whats going on will give me the low down. Thanks!!

You've got it right. Personally, I would opt for the factory (317) heads on the 6L unless you put a set of 243/799s or L92 heads on it. But yes, all accessories will swap over. The engines are externally identical. Reuse your factory intake on the 6L to make the swap a little easier.

Agreed, all sensors, and accessories will swap over. The stock 5.3 heads can bolt up to the lq4 or the lq9, but do not flow as well as the stock 317 heads. That's the great thing gm did. All ls engine parts are interchangeable. Heads, cams, intakes.

im doing this swap as of right now..honestly havent ran into a single problem swap wise, basically take one engine out put the other in its place..its really as simple as that..of course youll need a retune since the 4.8 computer wont work too well with the 6.0

I've read that the 243 heads are essentially ls6 heads without the lighter valves, if I put a set of 243 heads on it with P&P they would flow better and raise compression which would make them the head of choice right

LS6 heads are 243 castings, same as LS2 heads and flow exactly the same. True LS6 heads have sodium filled valves, which are lighter, but might not be as strong.

I had to take the 6.0 flex plate and spacer off and put my old one on because it came out of a 4L80E truck.

the lighter the valve the better

i ran the ls3 valvetrain in my heads, gives me room to turn up the rpms!
