5.3L aluminum block for SSR

We all know how Motor Trend can be, but I found it curious that they have heard that an aluminum-block 5.3L might going in the SSR truck for less weight on the nose of the car. You'd think that if they were going to go to the trouble that they'd go all out and make an aluminum-block 6.0L! Can you imagine the # of guys that would be in line to buy a factory 4" bore LS1 aluminum block?

Blah! Aluminum!

I was looking at a 5.3L CAST IRON block today, mainly looking at the cylinder walls. The cylinder walls look thickier than the outer wall of the block, I can see where they would be good for a generous overbore

I've seen rumors that that may happen as well.
