Default 5.3 Questions

Ok so here goes. I know that the 4.8 and the 5.3 have the bame bore, so in theory I could use 4.8 Flat top pistons in my 5.3. So what are the advantages/disadvantages to doing this. Would it be worth the money to get that little bit higher CR? Or will it just be better to leave well enough alone?

Thanks, Josh

i dont think they will either....not sure though but i think that when you make a 4.8 a 5.3 you have to change the crank, rods, and pistons so it makes sense you would have to going opposite.....also i know the crank is diff. for a 5.3 than a 4.8 so you might have clearance issues with the flat top piston as oppose to the dish piston if you use the 5.3 crank....dont know from personal experience though....

If I did could find some L33 pistons, would it be a worthy upgrade. It will raise my CR from 9.5-1 to 9.9-1. Or should I just shave the heads and get that much or even more.

If you go flat top pistons you will also need 64 cc heads to bring CR down to 9.9:1
