Default 5.3 Liter Electric Cutout - Warranty Issues? Size?

I've decided to get an electric cutout installed in the 'before cat' position since I just found out my new HPP3 can check and clear DTC's that might be thrown from the rear O2's.

Anyone got any pics or info on their before-cat cutouts?

Will the dealer balk at any warranty work if the cutout is just installed and not open?

What size do I need?

Before cats?!?!?!?! Not possible with the headers we have and even with the stock manifolds. I have spools where my cat can be, and there is no room for my QTP's with out putting some extenders on the cutout flange. I'm sure anything is possible, but looks like a LOT of work. Now, I guess if you are relocating the cats, you sould be fine, but again, it will be tricky with electrics in the original location of the cats. Also if you relocate them, unless you drive around all the time with them open, you may not even throw codes. You could always use simms and not worry about it. Just watch the location of the opening. The guys that have had problems with the fuel have them closer than 6" from the front O2's in most cases.

HPPIII's can code read now huh? Gonna have to check that out for a couple of buddies that are thinking about getting one.

Cool - this is the kind of info I was looking for, I haven't really spent that much time under the truck looking at it I just knew from a performance aspect I'd want them in front of the cats if possible.

How much rwhp/rwtq can I expect to gain putting it directly after the cat, or at the first available location? Enough to justify the $200-$300 cost installed?

Also, the HPP3 checks and clears the codes on my 2003 S10 4.3 and 2003 Yukon 5.3, pretty awesome. It gives you the code number and clears it if you want and you just have to look up the code online or in a service manual to see what it is.

if you havn't already bought your electric cutouts shoot me a pm, there's a local company to me that sells them and they are MUCH better quality than the QTP cutouts, and cheaper as well...let me know.

Your opinion. I do know that the QTP's are better than the McCords. Seen both and installed both. Long story short The guys that had McCords now have QTP's

My Predator gives the codes also. Probably the biggest reason I got it before I finally got edit.

As for the HP gain, look for no more than 10rw. These trucks don't seem to respond as well as the cars do. Some guys get more, but I only saw a few (after the cats, the old location) Never dynoed in the front location.

dude, the ones these guys make ARE FAR SUPERIOR to the QTPs....they seal better, are equipped with better wiring (QTP uses audio cables) and are cheaper.....that's fact.
