4l80E: differece between 2x4 and 4x4

Will the 2wd version of the 4l80E swap into the trucks also, or are they too different from the 4wd version?

Sorry Ben, off topic but, :) . Has your tranny gone yet?
I am saving for mine. It's still hanging in there, but not beating on it.
Probably going to order the stuff from
http://transmissioncenter.net/4l60e.htm
and have Alaska Transmission and Gear do the re build.
I am scared to let anyone mess with anything I own though.
Too many bad experiences with shops.

The only difference in the 2wd and 4wd 4L80E conversion is that the crossmember and transmission mount are different. You'll need to get the correct PCM programming 2wd and 4wd are different.

Whitt... output shafts are the same also? I thought they were different...

sam, mine is still hanging in there, but it is starting to slip a little. The more I think about it though, the 80 is the way to go. This is what I want:

holy shit! That is sweet!
I see you have been working on your timing tables.
Haven't touched mine. I know I will smoke the tranny if I go out and log some runs.
I just treat it kinda mild around town till I can get it done.
Shipping actually wouldn't be too bad on that combo. FLP wanted 400 bucks for roundtrip on a tranny to Anchorage, so couldn't be too much more for a one way on that combo :) Looks good

Ijust noticed no orders to Alaska on that auction :\

I thought that the output shaft and the tailshaft housing were different...

so output shaft and tailshafthousing are different? Will they swap over to the style that does fit? Can the autotrack from my truck be converted to accept an 80? 2WD or 4WD? I have done research intot this topic, but can't seem to find this answer.
