I've broken some before spreading them but never compressing. Bad ring and it is xmas holiday. May be forever before he gets another ring.

4.030 bore 4.100 stroke. No clearancing, yet....
For the shot size Cody is looking at, wouldn't a ring gap of the top ring at .024 and the 2nd ring at .028, and stock for the oiling ring be a bit better?

Funny you should say that size. The kit I just ordered can spray up to a 400 shot

The rings were supposed to be gapped at 22 and 24 but they are more like 24-25 and 26 respectively since I did most of them Im not too worried about it though since this sint going to be my DD anymore once I get back to Austin.

Injected as soon as the motor is in the truck and running Im going back to Texas but Ill be back up in here in a couple of months to visit my dad so we can meet up then. Plus I got to get back up here to run mj after its all tuned and running right

This motor is only going to have a 100 shot sprayed on it I promise

Like Cody said. They are all on the wide side. But considering the bore size the .022-.026 would be plenty IMO. If he had a 4.250+ bore then much more would be needed.
Personally if he sprays 400 he is nuts. The head gaskets won't last long. He would need to be o-ringed and solid copper to hold up. Ask Parish how well the MLS gaskets are.
I'd like to choke GM for going with 10 head bolts(other than the 5 worthless ones across the top) and went away from 17 like the gen1 engines. The machine shop used SB Ford Torque plates when they honed it. Damned ford motor. SB Fords are notorious for poping head gaskets when spraying a lot or FI.

Im not going to spray a 400 shot on it more that once

No seriously this setup will see a 150 shot on it most of the time. Every once in a while it will get a 200-250 shot but thats it no 300 or 400 shot unless Im just a tenth or so from 10s or something then Ill bump the shot up but I dont know about spraying that big a shot without a DP setup.

This crap is getting really old really quick. Got the crank and 7 pistons in tonight Here are the pics for what it is worth

I didnt take too many pics cause I got pretty pissed after I broke the ring so.....

Here are some pics of the ring that broke it must have been bad from the factory better now then later I guess.

Ill get some more when it is more complete and during the install hopefully nothing else happens to slow down the process even more. I am so ready to drive my truck now. Its been down for THREE months, I miss it

Damn, that sucks Cody!! But on the bright side, that looks like one hell of a motor!! Hope everything goes well and you get it back on the road.

Let me tell you guys something painting the damn block right is not an easy task. I thought it would take like 2-3 hours yeah about 6 hours later I was done. Painting the desing of the t-chain cover on there was major PITA. It does look good though IMO.
