4.8 dyno numbers
just traded in my 99 TA and got a 03 sinlge cab step side silverado, and damn do i love it, but the moding bug has already got me and the call for a built 6.0 is getting stronger and stronger, so my question is what do stock 4.8s usually put down for power, and then what do they make modded a lil im looking at doing longtubes and some true duals, and then a LS6 cam and some new 918s on it. also a full tune with HP tunners from fastech, so what kinda of power would i see before and after
thanks for the help, John. |
so any know??

You can expect about 300rwhp N/A with bolt-ons and a cam. 500rwhp can be had with about 18psi. :eek2:

Stock 4.8 is 285hp...in 99,it was 255...270 in '00..and 285 in 02 or 03.
The LTs are good for 15-20 hp That cam...I don't know A good custom tune can knock 4 or 5 tenths off stock ET E-fans...5-8 hp Pullies...? CAI...maybe 10 hp |
About 240...
...to the wheels.
|
i would guess stock to be around 220 and with those mods around 285 or so. you're going to want a stall though. with the stock cam it needs one. with any bigger cam than stock it's almost a requirement. the 4.8L down low is embarrasing.
|
so what do they dyno to the wheels bone stock?
|
Zippy said 220...seems like I've heard that number pretty often. It's roughly 18% less at the wheels than flywheel. Using that: 285 x 0.82 = 233.7 ... 220ish to 230 or so,I guess.

not bad im just looking to gain some mild performace and still run like it does stock, and pull my jet ski and soon another f-body
