4.3 Vortec
I have a 2005 Gmc Sierra 1500 with a 4.3L Vortec and a 5 speed tranny. I would like to get a some more power out of it. I have been looking at a supercharger and thinking of buying a biger cam and maybe some headers. My goal HP is around 300. I have a budget of about $4,000. Does anybody have any sugestions. Thanks

as for cams ya i have seen several. and what i have on my 4.3 right now are JBA headers, Taylor 8mm wires, NGK plugs, March underdrive pulleys (alt, water pump and crank), MAC CAI, 2nd and 4th gear servos, and a tune from Wheatley. it runs pretty decent but im gonna be swapping out my 4.3 for a 5.3 that i bought about a month ago. and also, before i was considering swapping out the 4.3 for a V8 i contacted STS about a turbo kit. said the the turbo kit from the V8's will work BUT you have to get a custom intake tube made in order for it to hook up. my suggestion...if you have a $4,000 dollar budget...get a 6.0 from a scrap yard, do a mild build and new tranny and you will have more power out of a swap than fixing up the 4.3 im not an expert at any of this and i have been asking a lot of questions to but many others are prolly gonna tell you what i just told you to do... -John |
and here is the link that was giving to me for doing the swap...

This is the website where i found the supercharger at www.wynjammer.com

why wouldnt the supercharger for the s-dime work for the full size????
|
Why not go to a 6.0 ??

thats a different setup for a supercharger...but i still think your best bang for you buck is gonna be going with the engine swap. just my two cents though :burn:
