4* cam advancing for temp fix of low vacume?

I'm selling my Z28 which will be gone next week and i am going to have to start driving my truck again back and forth to work. With the cam my vacume drops to around 2 inches with the breaks on in gear. Sometimes it wants to stall and idles down to 300-400rpms. Since i dont have money for my stall yet i am wondering if i could just advance the cam 4* to get some vacume back so its not quite so harsh around town?

Will this help or work?

Thanks,
Ron

I don't think it will work. Advancing the cam will not change the overlap of the cam, the time when both valves are open at the same time.
I could be wrong, it happens alot.

A friend of mine with a Z28 said that a lot of f-body guys with big cams have to go to a vacuum pump to help with that problem. In fact, he just mentioned that to me recently. May not help your idle though.

I was thinking along the same lines as StupidFast... but then I thought about valve timing in relation to the piston.... not just valve vs valve.

I'll have to let it sink in for a little while here, but I'm thining it might help. Not sure.

Heres a thread on cam advancing I started. I had thought advancing could increase overlap. Its got some good info, once you get passed my thoughts. :eyes:
