216/220 in an ECSB 4.8L

I know, not another cam question. I did search but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I’m on my phone and can’t remember what’s in my sig but the truck is a 99 ecsb 2wd with a 4.8L. I’m gonna buy a cam pretty soon and install it during spring break since I’ll be off work.

I am torn between a 212/218 on a 112 and the Elgin 216/220 114. The Elgin is appealing since it’s only ~$250. Would the 216/220 be livable in a 4.8L with a stock converter for a little while. I’m not opposed to running a 3000-3200 stall in it and actually want to do that anyway. I’ll be installing long tubes at the same time as the cam. I don’t really tow, maybe once or twice a year but I’d say 2500lbs max. I know the 212/218 is a proven cam but just wanted some tboughts on the 216. I’m kind of leaning toward it because eventually Id like to do either a 6.0 or iron 5.7 build for the truck and I could just swap it over.
