^ Literally just finished this swap in my Tahoe this weekend. I used the low lift because I already had the LS6 spring in it.

My Tahoe was previously on an LS9 cam advanced 4°, and it was an utter dog below 2500

The 212/218 .550 112 (Stg2 low lift) from TSP makes it down right rip. I dont feel the loss in top end, even tho on paper its there. But what I do feel and fuggin love is the fact that she rolls out healthy now. Off idle torque is just straight up sexy.

I'll run this cam, or the high lift version in any 5.3 I buy from here on out.

you guys are missing his point, he said he has to replace his cam (for what ever reason) his not really looking to "cam" but if he can get a stock cam from where he works GM dealer (guessing really discounted price) and make a little more power then the stock cam hes removing hes happy

you guys made some great suggestions for cams but really didnt give him what his asking about

Thought I did make a suggestion or two? The L9Hs cam is a little smaller than the LS2s so it should not lose as much bottom end power, if any at all and probably not need a higher stall torque converter.

Honestly there is very little room in the gm cams esp the ls9 because people are cutting their own throat to literally make $4.
The stock 04-06 lq4 cam would be the best bet for the torque. But not a vvt cam.
The ls9 isnt a vvt cam either nor is ls2.
Do it once and do it right is the answer to the question whether his wallet likes it or not. You can use ls6 springs and stock prs on the stg2 low lift tsp cam to keep the total price tag down.

I dont recommend the LS9 cam for anything heavier than a RCSB with a 6.0

Otherwise, let it ride with the cars. Its not a good cam for down low, ever.

I agree with RPM on this one, the stg2 low lift is like a $400 package, its easy on the drivetrain and makes essentially stock torque off idle, and makes 50hp+ out to at least 6200.

The LY6 and L96 share the same grind as the LQ4 and LQ9 albeit on a Gen IV with VVT.

On another but distantly related note, what kind of fuel mileage are fellas getting with the TSP Stage II Low Lift camshaft on an otherwise stock 5.3 in a truck?

I have a small Comp cam i would call low lift
.556/,586, since it got cooler out my MPG has
dropped to 10-11mpg city in my 6.2. DD.

I'll report back to you on this in a few months time. My truck previously has been high 9s, low 10s heavy mixed. Maybe 13-14 highway.

The real answer to that is, no one reports back.
The better answer is, they cant keep their foot out of it long enough to make good mpg lol. Even small cams wake these trucks up.
From my own experimenting I would expect a few mpg gain but it takes a tuner that is willing to do more than 3 tunes wham bam thank you ma'am dyno tune afr set and done really.
Otherwise its not a fair comparison.
